Tsumagojuku is visited by many tourists throughout the year.
Tsumago-juku, the 42nd of the 69th station on the Nakayama Road, is the first post town in Japan to start a campaign to preserve the old townscape.
The entire area, centering on the post station landscape, along with the surrounding roads, satoyama, and natural landscapes, has been selected as an important traditional buildings preservation district of the country.
Nakasendo hiking between Magome-juku and Tsumago-juku has stop-by spots such as Ototaki Onna-taki and Tateba Tea House and Cobblestone Road, and you can feel the good old scenery and historical culture of Japan as well as nature. It is a popular course in Nakasendo.
